First things first:
Looking back at the last 2 years and the restraints due to the pandemic, we have been so grateful that so many people returned to our wee B&B and equally happy to welcome a lot of new guests. It meant a lot to us that you were still visiting our gorgeous area and chose our Bed & Breakfast to spend your break in Melrose.
As we are now looking forward to a new season with greater optimism as restrictions recede, we hope to see our Boutique B&B in full swing again. Many of us are planning a long-awaited break away and possibly prefer the sun on further afield shores to the Scottish weather but we are sure that Scotland will still be on the map for visitors this year. Whether you are eager to explore the Borders’ countryside on foot or by bike, visit the new museums in the area or simply need a few days away from everyday life, we would love to look after you.
Spring/summer events in the Scottish Borders:
The event calendar for the Melrose area is filling up. Starting off with the famous Melrose 7s this weekend ( 1 room left for last minute guests) as a yearly highlight and followed by, Floors Castle’s International Horse Trials in May as well as various common riding events, the Borders will be a busy place. We are all looking forward to the beloved Borders Book Festival and the legendary Sir Jackie Stuart’s Classic Motor Festival in June to mention just a few highlights for the coming season. New museums in the Scottish Borders:
Within the last 2 years, two main attractions were added to the Scottish Borders’ cultural map.
1) The new Trimontium Museum welcomes guests interested in the rich roman history and its large forts of the area.
2) The Great Tapestry of Scotland Museum showcases the inspirational true story of our country's history, heritage and culture from 8500 BC to the present day. This extraordinary piece of art has been hand stitched by over 1000 people in communities across Scotland and transported by land, sea and air to come together in Galashiels – just a stone-throw from us.
Welcome to our new website:
As you could experience, we have been busy in recent months and completely revamped our website to give it a more contemporary feel. We hope you do enjoy the final result.
One more reward:
With great excitement we were surprised last year with a new reward by Lux Life Magazine and were crowned “Country B&B of the Year 2021 – Scottish Borders”. It provided us with a much needed boost to keep up the spirit in those difficult times.
Bowden House update;
As always in the first months of the year, we have been updating our house. The dining room was newly painted, the guest rooms and staircase got new carpets, our garden got a few new plants and the house was spring cleaned to the tilt. All ready to welcome our visitors for the new season 2022.
