A warm welcome to Fishermen, Workmen and Business Travellers
After a long and wonderful summer, autumn is definitely here. Days are getting shorter and the tourism season for holiday makers in the Scottish Borders is almost over. Not quite, though! The River Tweed and its famous salmon fishing is still in full swing as we have one of the longest fishing seasons in Scotland (till November 30th!).
Salmon catches have been up since the start of September which provided the necessary rain for fly fishing.
Bowden House B&B has been welcoming fishermen to Melrose since 2016 and we are delighted to see that fishermen from far and wide are returning to catch some of our Atlantic salmon in the Scottish Borders.
The late autumn and winter season is, however, definitely quieter around here. Time for necessary refurbishments, tax returns :( and preparing the garden for winter. Pumpkins are to be carved, trees and hedges trimmed and all our lovely roses have to be cut back to bloom in all their glory next year.

For Bowden House B&B, Melrose, this is the time we usually welcome more guests coming on business travel and work stays. You need a full cooked breakfast in the early hours? No problem! We can also provide big, healthy lunch packs for the day ahead.
A warm fire in the wood burner will welcome you back after a long working day and you are welcome to enjoy a glass of wine or beer in front of our log burner in our guest lounge. We also have a large flat screen TV featuring over 100 programmes from various countries, if you want to catch up on some telly before you retire for the night. If you require a restaurant reservation for evening meals or like to book dinner with us please let us know!
High Speed Internet for free
Our small B&B offers high speed internet access for free throughout the house and allows you to browse, attend zoom meetings and connect to your workplace without any hassle. For online work meetings, please feel free to use our breakfast room for an uninterrupted, large working space.
Secure parking for work vehicles and plenty of storage/drying space for your equipment
Our gated courtyard and large storage space is perfect for keeping any fishing/working equipment and working vans or company cars secure. Tiger & Yoko, our two dogs, also keep a keen eye on who is entering our premises - so no need to worry about tools and items stored in your vehicles! We also provide a drying space for wet clothes to ensure that any wet workwear or fishing gear will be dry by the next morning.
As we have only two guest rooms available between October and April, any bed and breakfast guest of Bowden House B&B can be sure to enjoy an uninterrupted night's sleep to be fit for the next working day.
